Who We Are
There are a myriad of challenges in all sectors of Ghana’s economy that need to be addressed to better the lives of Ghanaians. The challenges include lack of educational facilities for rural communities, lack of potable drinking water, unemployment, lack of food security, poor sanitation, and lack of healthcare facilities etc. to mention a few.
The purpose of the John Dramani Mahama Initiatives (JDMI) is to create a platform to encourage well-meaning people to contribute resources to provide basic needs of economically disadvantaged areas in Ghana. This is an initiative to support the government of Ghana’s effort at tackling the myriad challenges with limited resources.
Two of the challenges that the JDMI will focus on tackling initially include providing access to potable drinking water and building classroom blocks to replace schools under trees in rural communities in Ghana.
There have been several programs implemented by the Government of Ghana, NGO’s, foreign donor institutions, and private sponsors etc. to address the lack of potable drinking water in Ghana’s rural areas for many years. But the implementation has been snail paced. We hope that the John Dramani Mahama Initiatives (JDMI) will help scale, support, and augment these existing programs to cover all rural areas in Ghana. This will be achieved by collaborating with other organizations working with similar goals and objectives.
